Energy Exercise
It is not enough for a Practitioner to release the blockage of energy— it is also important to analyze why the blockage was formed and correct the habit that caused it.
One thing we know is that in modern society, people generally don’t get enough exercise. Even if a person is feeling fairly good, in society there are normal tensions and blockages which occur in everyone every day. Unless they are released daily, these can begin to accumulate and stagnate in the body.
Dr. Stone developed exercises that he called ‘self-treatment’ exercises because they were specifically designed to move energy in the body and to clear blockages. They are also sometimes called “Polarity Yoga” or “Energy Exercises.”
For instance, he demonstrated variations of a squatting posture in order to aid digestion and elimination and to prevent constipation.
The postures that Dr Stone developed are particularly aimed at stretching the ligaments and tendons, because that is often where the energy gets blocked. As these tendons are stretched in the postures, the energy is forced to push through the blockages and to flow.
These exercises are very powerful and one will often feel a lot of heat in the body and movement of energy after just a few moments. They are not meant to be done over long periods of time like Yoga but are performed for a few minutes several times a day.
